Bracelet of Hope @ Vic

The dream of Bracelet of Hope is to see a red-and-white beaded bracelet on the wrist of every Canadian, and an end of HIV/AIDS in the small South African country of Lesotho. There are approximately 2 million people living in Lesotho, and around 270,000 of them are infected with HIV. In the past, donations to Bracelet of Hope went towards funding the Tsepong HIV/AIDS Clinic in Lesotho. We are excited to report that OHAfrica, after five years of partnership with the Lesotho Ministry of Health, have been so successful in the management of Tsepong that the Lesotho Ministry of Health feel ready to take over and operate the clinic on their own. Donations to the Bracelet of Hope Campaign will continue to be returned to the women at the Inina Craft Agency in South Africa, with funds going back towards their incomes and communities, as well as towards new projects in Lesotho to help ease the burden of HIV/AIDSs, including mentoring programs for clinicians, support of grandmothers raising children alone, leadership and gender training for youth, high school student sponsorships, and counseling for HIV/AIDS patients in Lesotho.
