How to Start a Club at Victoria College
Starting a Club at Vic is easy so don’t feel intimidated. This article will go over the process of creating a club step by step. If you have any questions about the process feel free to email clubs@vusac.ca and your Clubs Commissioner will be happy to help you.
Step 1: Have an Idea
As was mentioned before having an idea for a club is the hardest part of making one. Victoria College has over 30 clubs ranging from dance to poker – but our list isn’t exhaustive. If you have an idea give it a try. It’s likely that someone from our diverse student population may be interested in the very same thing.
Step 2: Fill out the Form
This is the Clubs Recognition Contract 2010 / 2011. If you want to start a club this document will walk you through it by essentially creating a constitution for you. Your constitution acts as an operating policy for your club by outlining topics from election procedures for executive members to meeting times and finances. Don’t feel limited by this document – you are more than welcome to build your constitution any way you want. Be creative and have fun – it’s your club!
Step 3: Submit your Clubs Recognition Contract to the VUSAC office
Once you finish your form, submit it to the VUSAC office in the Birge-Carnegie at 95 Charles Street West.
Step 4: Await approval from VUSAC
VUSAC meets every second Wednesday during the school year. At the maximum you will need to wait 2 weeks for approval from VUSAC.
Step 5: You’re done!
If everything goes smoothly and your club is granted recognition from VUSAC then your set to start running your club! Be sure to look at the Clubs FAQ article for all the questions you may have about running a Vic Club.
What are the benefits to having a recognized club at Vic?
